We Discuss What is Involved In Detailing Your Boat
At Ventura Boat Services, boat detailing is a highly professional cleaning, restoration, and protection of a boat’s interior and exterior surfaces to keep it looking new, performing well, and very importantly, maintaining its value. Boat detailing is similar to car detailing but specifically tailored for the marine environment, where salt, sun, algae, and oxidation are major threats to your boat.
Here’s a breakdown of what we typically includes:
Exterior Detailing
We focus on the hull, deck, and topside.
- Washing and drying – to remove salt, dirt, grime, and bird droppings using marine-safe soap.
- Oxidation removal – by buffing and rubbing compounding surfaces to restore faded or chalky gelcoat.
- Waxing or polishing – to add protection to surfaces from UV rays, mineral buildup and effects of saltwater; improves shine.
- Metal (brightwork) polishing – this process cleans and shines the exposed wood, stainless steel, or other metal accents on a boat to restore and protect them. This process helps prevent deterioration from saltwater, UV rays, and environmental damage.
- Teak cleaning and sealing – We clean and restore teak wood decks and trim.
- Vinyl and plastic restoration – We clean and apply UV protectant to prevent oxidation and cracking.
Interior Detailing
We focuses on cabins, cockpits, and storage areas.
- Vacuuming and cleaning upholstery – Removes stains, mildew, and odors.
- Carpet deep shampooing – Deep cleans marine carpet and floor mats.
- Galley and head cleaning – Sanitizes sinks, counters, and marine toilets, and other high touch surfaces.
- Window and hatch cleaning – Removes salt and other mineral spotting and glass and plastic fogging.
- Mold and mildew treatment – Cleans and kills growth on surfaces, especially in the most humid environments.
Engine Bay and Bilge Cleaning
- We can perform degreasing, cleaning, and applying protectant to mechanical components.
- Our work helps prevent corrosion and can discover spot leaks early before becoming a major problem.
Why Boat Detailing Is Important -- And Not Just For Looks
- Detailing protects against corrosion, UV, and oxidation
- Detailing helps preserve resale value
- Detailing can improve performance and even fuel efficiency
