TOPSIDE CLEANING

In Ventura County, CA, you don’t have to wonder if there are mobile boat detailers near me.  Ventura Boat Services has your back.  It’s critical to keeping your boat’s exterior clean for several reasons, in addition to showcasing its beauty. Keeping your boat clean protects the structure of the boat by keeping the protective finish intact. Over time, the salt from the sea can begin to erode, causing abrasions and scratches which are expensive to remedy. Keeping a clean boat, particularly the hull bottom makes for better performance. A dirty underwater hull bottom can increase fuel costs by as much as 30%.

Ventura Boat Services isn’t just a “run-of-the-mill” boat polishing service.  We will wash, wax, vacuum, clean hatches, clean gutter tracks & nonskid (or carpet). We also address vinyl by cleaning with an appropriate cleaner & coat with UV protectant. We polish brightwork, and clean windows inside and out.

BOTTOM CLEANING
The bottom of most sailboats, yachts and powerboats are sealed with anti-fouling paint, which helps to slow the growth of underwater organisms like algae, tubeworms, and barnacles. Unfortunately, the special paint doesn’t completely prevent organisms from attaching to the hull of a boat. The first growth when a newly painted boat is put into the water, is a sticky film of microbials. We offer professional bottom cleaning to address these common problem. This can be done with the boat out of water in a boatyard, or with pro divers while the boat remains in the marina water.  We will clean your sailboat, power boat or yacht professionally, but will also report to you any issues we find, that you cannot see for yourself while to boat is in the water. Here’s our boat bottom cleaning program we follow:

  • Clean the boat with materials that are the least abrasive needed to accomplish the job. We always use environmentally safe marine cleaning products.
  • Ensure there is no algae, tubeworm, or barnacle growth on the hull bottom and sides.
  • Check the condition of paint on the bottom and any additional hull issues such as blisters or de-lamination.
  • Check (we recommend every four to six months) and, if necessary, replace zincs to maintain them at no less than 40%, so as maintain the integrity and reliability of the zinc.
  • We look for any signs of electrolysis or corrosion on the props and other gear. This shows up on (normally) shiny metal surfaces as pitting and zinc degradation below 40%.
  • Check and clean growth of any sort on any through-hulls and intakes. Growth in these areas can cause serious problems with air conditioning, and overheated engines.
